Monster Galaxy Vs. Pokemon

So I've read a lot of comments on Forums and Monster Galaxy's Facebook Page saying that Monster Galaxy is a rip off Pokemon. The truth is that there have been mmo/rpg games even before the creation of Pokemon, where you could capture various monsters/creatures. So while Monster Galaxy is similar to Pokemon, Gaia online did not steal anything from the creators of Pokemon. For those of you who believe that Monster Galaxy is exactly the same as Pokemon, I am about to list the similarities and differences between both games.

Similarities
1. Taglines: Pokemon's tagline was "Gotta Catch Em' All". Monster Galaxy's description is "Monster Galaxy is an exciting new role-playing game where you can fight and collect over a hundred wild monsters. Join your friends on a fantastic adventure as you battle together to tame the zodiac and save the world! "Can you catch them all?" (Very Similar).

2. Capturing Monsters: In Pokemon you can go out on your adventure and capture wild Pokemon with Pokeballs. In Monster Galaxy you can go out on your adventure and tame wild mogas with Starseeds. The lower on health the enemy monster/moga has, the easier it is/higher chance you have of capturing it.

3. Trainers: In Pokemon you played the game as a Pokemon Trainer, capturing Pokemon and training them to make them stronger. In Monster Galaxy you play as Monster Galaxy Tamer, capturing Mogas and training them to make them stronger. As with any Monster Capturing game, this will be similar.

4. Training: In order to train your Pokemon you had to defeat other Pokemon and you would gain Experience Points (Exp) and level up. As with most MMOs, Monster Galaxy is no different as it also uses the Exp Leveling System. The more experience you gain, the stronger your Moga/Pokemon becomes. You will also gain Upgraded Attacks as well.

5. Evolutions: Once evolutions were introduced into Monster Galaxy, many players started commenting on the similarities between Monster Galaxy and Pokemon. Simply put you can now evolve your Mogas into bigger and more powerful Mogas. However, the evolution system is different in Monster Galaxy, as you need Evolution Potions and a certain number of Mogas to complete a single evolution.

6. Rivals: Yes every Moga Tamer and Pokemon Trainer need a rival to annoy you throughout the game. In Pokemon his name was Gary Oak and in Monster Galaxy you will have to constantly deal with Skylar.

All in all, there are a large amount of similarities between the two games, and I'm sure I only touched on a few of them. If you have anymore similarities between the two games, feel free to comment below.

Differences
1. Zodiac Signs: The number one difference that immediately sticks out in my mind is the entire Zodiac system. Every Moga in Monster Galaxy has a different sign that has Strengths & Weaknesses against other signs. Each Moga has a different Zodiac attack that can be used and upgraded to defeat other Mogas. This system is much like the Pokemon Strengths & Weaknesses of the Elements (Water beats Fire, Grass beats Earth, Fire beats Grass).  This is one difference that makes Monster Galaxy unique.

2. Platforms: Pokemon was created for many different game systems, such as Gameboy, N64, DS, etc. The original Monster Galaxy game was made for Facebook, so it has social aspects that Pokemon did not have. For example, you can see your other friends Mogas, collect Attack Whistles from them and gift   each other various items. There is also PvP in Monster Galaxy where you can challenge your friends to a tamer duel. You could battle in Pokemon, but you needed to directly connect your game system to your friend's system, or use a memory card.

3. Classes: In Monster Galaxy each Moga has a class (Tank, Balanced, Striker). Tanks don't take as much damage, Strikers do more damage and Balanced Mogas have a balanced amount of attack and defense. Also, the more difficult it is to capture a Moga, the higher the combined attack and defense rating it will have. In Pokemon, power was based solely off the element and level of the Pokemon you used.

4. Collections: You can collect cards to complete Collections in Monster Galaxy. When you complete these collections, you will receive either items, or a Moga. In Pokemon, the only real way of obtaining a Monster was to capture it. Monster Galaxy also gives you the option of buying Mogas for Moga Cash during special events. This gives players a variety of ways to obtain different Mogas.

5. Free To Play: The last difference I can think of between Pokemon and Monster Galaxy is that Monster Galaxy is free to play, while you have to buy Pokemon if you want to play it. Some argue that to capture all the Mogas in Monster Galaxy, you have to buy some with actual money. While this is true, the majority of the Mogas can be found and captured in the wild. Monster Galaxy is also still in Beta (As most Facebook games are) so there is still a lot of work to be done by the developers.

All in all, there are a large amount of differences between the two games, and I'm sure I only touched on a few of them. If you have anymore differences between the two games, feel free to comment below.

HAY MAS DIFERENCIAS ENTRE MONSTER GALAXY Y POKEMON :EN POKEMON ALGUNAS VECES SI NO QUERIAS QUE EL POKEMON EVOLUCIONARA PORQUE TE GUSTABA LA EVOLUCION ANTERIOR,NO PODIAS HACER NADA ,SI PODIAS CANSELAR LA EVOLUCION PERO SOLO POR 5 NIVELES LUEGO EL POKEMON EVOLUCIONABA , EN CAMBIO EN MONSTER GALAXY ES MEJOR SI TE GUSTA LA PRIMERA FORMA DEL MOGA O NO TE GUSTA SU EVOLUCION NO IMPORTA ,PUEDES LLEGAR AL NIVEL MAXIMO SIN OBLIGACION DE EVOLUIONAR. HOLA MI NOMBRE ES BRYAN CONTRERAS Y CREO QUE MONSTER GALAXY ES EL MEJOR JUEGO DE FACEBOOK Y UNA GRAN CREACION DE GAIAONLINE :POR CIERTO SIN AYUDA DE MONSTER GALAXY DATABASE NUNCA UBIERA ENCONTRADO LOS MOGAS QUE QUERIA "GRACIAS".

About number 3, I don't think you
actually played pokemon... because every single pokemon have stats (even in Red and Blue, although the Special stat was for both attack and defense intead of separate). Anyway using some well known pokemon as examples, Snorlax is a slow Special Defence tank with a nice chunk big of HP and quite good physical Attack. Raichu can hit fast and has decent Attack and Special Attack, but it's very frail. There are tons of different combinations, for many situations. And many moves as well.
So don't come saying that power in pokemon only comes from level and type/element.

Actually there were never "many games" like pokemon before pokemon which is why pokemon is still a big hit to this day. Just because you dress it up differently doesn't make it different. I can make a hotdog look like a banana (food coloring and ingenuity) and--in the end--it's still a hotdog. Monster Galaxy is a rip off from pokemon. There's no such thing as "original" anymore. Just admit it. I still play the game when I'm bored. The platform difference is null anyway because Pokemon can be played on Wii, Gameboy, Gamecube, and pc (via rom). I could go on but I've made my point.
